Status

I'm sure you'll all be happy to hear that I've finished my university exams and bought a Macbook Pro so I can now continue development of the new CI Base website.

I would love some feedback on how you would like the site to be categorised too E.g. would you prefer browsable categories or a search by tags interface? Don't worry about the implementation of submitting the code and handling tags because we can discuss that when we get to it. If you prefer categories how deep to you want them and would you prefer two category types? E.g Applications, then another drop down for User Management.

Bug Fix

When deleting a file version it would delete the wrong file but the current SQL entry. If you experience issues deleting or downloading a file please contact me and I'll fix it for you.

The bug that was causing this problem has since been fixed.

Bug Fixed

I've fixed a simple bug in code/uploads. I renamed some models and must have missed that one when updating the controller. Opps!

Thanks to Neophyte for pointing that one out. You should be able to upload new versions of code fine now. The bug should have only been there the past few days so hopefully it didn't affect many people. Sorry if it did.

What to expect

Here's what to expect in a future version.

  • Working search box.
  • "New Look" code details page with ratings system.
  • New categories with libraries split in to sub categories.
  • In the long run a tutorials section.

I'm going to start work on these new features tomorrow after squashing any bugs people find over night. It's 1:40am so I'm off to bed :P

Beta Released

I've decided to announce the beta of CI Base.

Additional features:

  • User registration activation
  • Forgotten password
  • New code overview layout
  • Several admin side items

Upcoming features:

  • Edit user profile
  • Email when favourite code is updated
  • Working search box
  • New code & top 5 boxes on homepage
  • Code Rating System

I'm hoping to get the edit user profile done tonight or tomorrow with other features following.

Alpha Release

App authors: Please check to make sure your app hasn't already been uploaded before you upload it yourself.

The alpha version of the site has been released. Please take it for a test spin and post any bugs.

Once I feel 99% of any bugs are gone I will wipe the database and uploads. Then we can start uploading real code.

I have a fairly long to do list, starting with a ratings system. After that I'll be cleaning up some of the code and then move on to getting a latest 5, top rated 5 table above this news post area.

Let me know if you have found any bugs by PMing me here or leaving a comment in this article.
